Acetate filters are widely used in the cigarette industry. Cellulose Acetate primarily helps remove undesirable matter from the smoke stream by mechanical capture of the smoke particles.

Over the years different variants of Acetate Filter Rods have also gain market acceptance and acetate filters rods are now also produced as: King Size, Queen Size, Slims, and Super Slims/Nano, ventilated with different porosity of papers, Flavored, Capsulated, Non-Wrapped Acetate (NWA), Hollow Acetate Tube (HAT), Inner Shaped Acetate, Outer Shaped Acetate, With Colored tow, with colored Plug wrap and with Activated Carbon.

Acetate segment is always the mouth-end segment even when combined in more complex filter technology.

The shape and size of the acetate fibers are controlled during production to ensure a uniform product with very low rod to rod variability.

Smoke removal efficiency depends on the filter tip length and pressure drop. The choice of fiber also plays a pivotal part.
